Terms of Service

Last updated: 6 July 2026

1. What LexConnect is

LexConnect is a directory and introduction service that connects attorneys with advocates in South Africa. We are not a law firm, we do not provide legal advice, and no attorney–client or counsel relationship arises between you and LexConnect. Any engagement that follows an introduction is concluded directly between the attorney and the advocate, on their own terms and subject to their own professional rules.

2. Accounts and eligibility

LexConnect is intended for practising legal professionals. You must be at least 18, provide accurate information at signup and on your profile, and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. A “verified” badge reflects checks performed by LexConnect at a point in time; it is not a warranty of any advocate’s standing, availability or quality of work.

3. Briefs and confidentiality

Attorneys approach advocates by sending a brief. Include only the information an advocate needs to assess the approach — no more. Brief content may be confidential or privileged: both parties must treat it as such whether or not the brief is accepted. When an advocate accepts a brief, both parties’ contact details are revealed to each other; everything that follows happens outside LexConnect. Nothing in these terms overrides your obligations under the Legal Practice Act or the rules of your professional body.

4. Fees and billing

  • Attorneys subscribe monthly for an allotment of contact reveals. A reveal is used when an advocate accepts a brief; sending a brief reserves one until it is accepted, declined or expires. Unused monthly reveals do not roll over. Prepaid reveal packs persist until used.
  • New attorney accounts start with a time-limited free trial. At the end of the trial, sending new briefs requires a subscription; you keep access to your account and existing introductions.
  • Advocates may optionally subscribe to a paid plan for priority placement, a featured badge, profile analytics and higher brief capacity. The free advocate listing remains functional.
  • Payments are processed by Paystack. If a renewal fails, paid features are suspended until payment succeeds. Prices may change on reasonable notice, effective from your next billing period.
  • You can cancel at any time; deleting your account cancels any active subscription. Fees already paid for the current period are not refunded.

5. Acceptable use

Do not misrepresent your identity, role or qualifications; use the platform to harvest contact information; send briefs with no genuine intent to instruct; or attempt to bypass the contact gate or interfere with the service. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or bring the platform into disrepute, and verified status may be withdrawn at our discretion.

6. Your content

You own the content you submit. You grant us a licence to store and display it to signed-in users as the service requires — a profile is shown in the directory; a brief is shown to the advocate it addresses. Handling of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy.

7. Liability

The service is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that any approach will lead to an engagement, and we are not a party to, and accept no liability arising from, any engagement between users. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months preceding the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act where it applies.

8. General

These terms are governed by South African law. If we change them, we will update this page and the date above and notify you of material changes by email; continued use after the effective date is acceptance. Questions: hello@lexconnect.cc.
